2005

Singer songwriter Vaclav Havelka III aka. selFbrush teams up with the post-rock guitar healers-terapeutists Some Other Place to form Please The Trees. When asked who the band is playing for around that time, Havelka answered "The trees - we play to Please The Trees." And so that's where the band got its name.

2007

Double-A-single “Wrong Along” / “Red Sky” released (on Vaclav Havelka’s own Absent Hour Records, hand made, numbered edition 50 copies sold out within 2 weeks ).

Debut album Lion Prayer released (Absent Hour Records, first edition 500 copies sold out within 3 months). The album is ravely received by both, media and audiences. The band becomes one of the most promising alternative acts of the year on the Czech scene.

Eurosonic festival (Groningen, Holland), Colours Of Ostrava festival (CZ), Music In The Park festival (supporting Dr. John, CZ), opening up at Prague gigs of Wovenhand (ex-16 Horsepower) and of Chris Harford & The Band of Changes.

2008

Live at the Fresh Film fest (CZ), Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (CZ), Colours Of Ostrava festival (CZ), Levi’s Minutes Unbuttoned Music Fest (CZ), Rudolfinum Gallery (Prague).

2009

Live at Rock For People festival (CZ), Colours Of Ostrava festival (CZ).

The second full length “Inlakesh” recorded at the Base Camp, rehearsal place / Airhead mobile studio (CZ).

The band receives a personal recommendation from Patti Smith in her online diary “Hotel Europa”.

2010

U.S. tour, including 4 shows at South By Southwest (SxSW) festival (Austin, Texas) in March 2010. The band’s first ever gig in the States was staged at the Music Hall Of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York together with Akron/Family and Warpaint. Please The Trees get mentioned at the Rock And Pop listing of New York Times and at New York Post’s page six… supporting Vetiver in Chicago… interviewed by spinner.com.

The band opens for The Drones and Tindersticks in Prague.

“Inlakesh” released in the Czech Republic (Absent Hour Records). The record was masterd by Paul Gold at Salt Mastering, New York.

In October the band start’s to work on new material.

2011

Vaclav Havelka visits for second time SXSW in Austin, Texas to promote the band some more among other things by setting up an alternate Please The Trees line up from local musicians and plays three shows with them during the festival.

The American release of Inlakesh come out April 1st. It was remixed by Mark Dailey of e.dagener productions, re-mastered by Adam Ayan of Gateway Mastering, and distributed by DryCappuccino Entertainment, LLC of Front Royal, VA. The owners of DryCappuccino met Please The Trees at a gig at Madam’s Organ in Washington, D.C. during their first American tour in the spring of 2010. The band and the company signed an American distribution agreement not long after the initial meeting. DryCappuccino Entertainment sponsored Please The Trees on their Fall 2011 US tour.

Vaclav Havelka III solo opens for The Twillight Singers and Belle And Sebastian.

Please The Trees play FILTER MAGAZINE'S SECOND ANNUAL CULTURE COLLIDE FESTIVAL - Los Angeles during their second US Fall 2011 tour. During this tour the band recorded third album called A Forest Affair with producer and engineer Jonathan Burnside (Gary Floyd Band, Sleepy Jackson, Melvins, Helios Creed, Consolidated). The trip was accompanied by the band’s prime photographer Bet Orten and film maker, director Jiri Rendl to document the trip and the record making. Jiri Rendl is working since 2007 on film documentary about the band called Train To The Moon. The film should premier in Fall 2012 around the same time with the A Forest Affair record release.

During the above mentioned US TOUR 2011 the band with close friend John Reynolds established the Please The Trees Project. Since October 1st 2011 the band plant a tree in every city where they perform. Each tree planting is photographed and documented, then posted on this profile http://www.facebook.com/pleasethetreesproject. The band encourages their audience to do the same. Fans can post photographs of trees planted to this profile so that another tree can be added to the growing forest.

Former LA Times music editor says about P.T.Trees performance at the Taix club, Los Angeles during the Culture Collide festival at his prestigious blog buzzbands.la: Please the Trees from the Czech Republic offered robust arrangements where guitars didn’t sound like guitars and frontmant Vaclav Havelka brought his own flair to the stage (and off the stage). A bit Grizzly Bear and a bit Arcade Fire (minus the massive number of people on stage), Taix’s main room finally saw a band who went out into the crowd and lose themselves in their own music.

2012

The captivating, beautifully produced and stylistically varied album A Forest Affair, representing the peak of Havelka’s career as a songwriter to date, was released on October 10 for the Czech market by one of the most respected local labels Starcastic Records ( starcasticrecords.cz ). The eagerly awaited record is greatly received by the fans and media and the band proves by the record it's unique position on the Czech music scene. With the help of producer Jonathan Burnside the band fulfils it's potential on the record and confirms itself yet again as one of the most exciting acts to watch.

2013

With third full lenght record A Forest Affair wins Czech Grammy „Andel Music Awards“ for best alternative record of the year 2012.
The band enters new year with yet another triumphant tour in Poland and performes triumphantly at prestigious Heineken Open'er Festival in July.
Releases three new recordings (see discography).
PTT open for Kurt Vile & The Violators in Prague.
Tours in 2013 took place in Israel (In D Negev festival), Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland (Heineken Opener festival), Brussels, Ghent (Glimps festival), Holland.

Vaclav Havelka is composing soundtrack for feature film Mista / Places by Radim Spacek with David Boulter (Tindersticks) http://www.bionaut.cz/en/places/ and several theatre plays.

Havelka also starts new psychedelic, ambient, experimental project called Were Mute with multi instrumentalist Carl Warwick. Debut album set to be released at Starcastic Records sometime 2014. He performs solo with strictly noise set as Vac da Hawk with record planned to be released also sometime 2014.

2014

January – UK tour

In March 2014 the band returns to the US for third time. The tour consisting of 23 gigs in three and half weeks the band booked by themselves. During this tour the band performs with Rocky Erickson @Threadgills, Austin, TX, with Wrekmeister Harmonies & Ryley Walker @Crown & Harp, Dallas, TX, with Kid Congo Power's @Longbranch Inn, Austin, TX and with Cheap Time @Green Room, Athens, GA. During this tour PTT recorded basic tracks for their to be fourth full length album at the High Bias Studio in Detroit with Chris Koltay (Liars, Women, Deerhunter, Holy Fuck, No Age, The War On Drugs, Akron/Family).

2015

In the July 2015 PTT open for Robert Plant And The Sensational Space Shifters in Brno.

On September 22nd, fourth studio record ( /\ r |> (Carp ) is coming out on LP, CD and as digital download at Starcastic Records. The album was recorded live in 24 hours with Chris Koltay at High Bias Recordings, Detroit. Vocals were recorded with Phil Weinrobe at Rivington66, New York. The record is mixed by Chris Koltay at High Bias Recordings, Detroit, mastered by Heba Kadry at Timeless Mastering, New York and vinyl cut has been done by Carl Rowatti at Trutone Mastering, New York. Yet before the physical release the album gets ravishing reviews in the Czech media. The album is called record of the month in Full Moon magazine where it gets 100%, it’s called record of the week at Radio Wave, it gets five stars in Rock And Pop magazine, three and half stars in Headliner magazine.
